Dog training Youtube channels are a fantastic way of learning how to train your dog at home. Although people do hire professional trainers or even take courses for this, training channels on Youtube prove to be a top choice for people that are looking to learn dog training without spending money.

There are a plethora of podcasts and Youtube channels for dog training (and for dog lovers). Some of them are good while others not so much. And, unsurprisingly, finding out which one is worth your time can be quite a drag. To make sure you don’t suffer, we have compiled a list of 10 excellent Youtube channels that teach you how to train your dog without too much hassle. Let’s jump in.

Let us start by mentioning the best thing about Dog training Youtube channels: They are for everyone.

It doesn’t matter if you are a new pet parent or a seasoned professional, there is so much useful information on these channels that every dog aficionado can benefit from them. So, here are the channels that present this information in a fun and consumer-friendly format.

1. Donna Hill

It is a shame that a channel as good as Donna Hill‘s has so little recognition. The views and subscriber count are a fraction of what the popular channels enjoy and yet the content often exceeds in quality. And this baffles us. Why does a channel as information-rich as Donna Hill’s has a comparatively tiny viewership?Well, maybe because the videos aren’t flashy. There are no shenanigans or fancy effects on them. Every video is Donna, a dog, and her knowledge. That is it.

Moreover, the visual quality of the videos is nowhere near 2020 standards. They lack the production qualities of, let’s say, a channel with a million viewers. But in spite of all this, we still consider it to be one of the best dog training channels on Youtube.

Donna is a profound dog trainer and her methods are simple and effective. The videos she makes demonstrate training methods that don’t rely on cruel practices. Be it obedience training or teaching Treiball, Donna Hill excels in delivering complex concepts in a readily understandable way. To be honest, what her videos lack in shine, they make up for in substance. So, Donna Hill gets a full, hearty recommendation from our side.

2. Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution

Zak George‘s is the opposite of Donna Hill’s in all but one aspect: the effectiveness of the content. Right out of the gate, you can see that Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution is a big channel. It has over 2 million subscribers and the production quality of the videos demonstrates why. Aside from being crisp and beautiful to look at, the length of the videos is just perfect; not too long to seem boring and not too short to suggest a lack of information.

Moreover, Zak himself is an incredible host. He is funny, charming, and, most importantly, really good with dogs. His knowledge about the behavioral instincts of a dog is incredible, to say the least. Additionally, His focus on reinforcement training is refreshing to see.

For instance, take a look at his series on training his dog Intertia. The series alone can rank him among the best trainers on Youtube. In short, Zak George’s dog training channel is an incredible resource no matter who you are. Definitely, a thumbs up from our perspective.

3. Peter Caine Dog Training

This is one of the quirkiest channels on Youtube and Mr. Peter Caine himself is the reason why his channel is so unique. It doesn’t have super high-resolution videos like some of the other channels, nor does it have any substantial following. But Peter Caine’s channel has something that no other dog training channel on Youtube boasts: a knack for presenting information in a hilarious way.

Go and take a quick look at his channel. It is a strange mix of dog training and hunting videos, satirical skits, and witty political commentary. It is astounding to see how a single person can do so many things so well. And this is exactly where the charm of this channel lies. It is raw, original, and, most importantly, fun to watch.

Moreover, when it comes to dog training videos, Peter Caine has videos related to obedience training, service dog training, and also videos that teach general manners to dogs. His method of teaching relies heavily on verbal communication rather than the use of clickers. Verbally communicating with the dogs is his forte and it is amazing to see how well he does that. Long story short, if you want to get good with your dog and enjoy a funny ‘in-your-face’ training approach, then give Peter Caine’s dog training channel a try.

4. Stonnie Dennis

Here’s the deal: Stonnie Dennis’s Youtube channel is a treasure trove for aspiring dog trainers. Stonnie Dennis himself is a professional dog trainer. He runs Cabin Creek Kennel and, among other things, provides services such as obedience training, service dog training, family guard training, and boarding. But nearly every dog trainer provides these services. So, what makes Stonnie Dennis standout from the rest?

Well, the great thing about Stonnie Dennis is his professionalism. See one of his videos and you will get a better idea of what we are talking about. He has his own notion of what a relationship between a dog and a human looks like. His training methodology is based on his idea that cooperation is the principle relationship between a man and his dog. And his videos reflect that.

Seeing as to how Stonnie Dennis values cooperation over obedience it is no wonder that he is great with dogs. He listens to his dogs and the dogs listen to him in return. This is exactly what budding trainers need to learn. Cooperation and communication should be the focus and to this end, we are quite glad to recommend Stonni Dennis as an excellent learning resource.

5. Larry Krohn

Nowadays too many people want to teach their dog tricks like sit, fetch, grab, etc. While these things are great and do have a place in obedience training, these tricks aren’t going to help the fundamental issues that dog owners face. More often than not, dogs suffer from a lack of structure and thus misbehave. This is where Lary Krohn comes in.

Lary Krohn is a professional dog trainer and unlike most other trainers, he doesn’t focus on teaching dogs to fetch or sit. What he focuses on is correcting the underlying issues. For instance, according to Larry Krohn aggression is not an issue in itself, because it is a dog’s natural instinct, rather a lack of structure is. If the dog doesn’t know who to follow he will do what he wants.

Lary Krohn’s philosophy and methodology of dog training are what separates him from the crowd. Rather than showing dog owners how to correct their dogs, he shows people how to correct themselves. His philosophy that you shouldn’t give dogs too much freedom may anger some people but ultimately that is Larry’s own opinion that he is entitled to. All in all, Lary Krohn’s Youtube channel drags people’s attention to the basics, and, in our opinion, every dog owner can find value in his teachings.

6. Training Positive

Training Positive is one of the oldest dog training channels on the platform. And because it has been around for a long time, people trust it quite a lot. If you look close enough, it is not hard to see why.

First up, Training Positive focuses on combining the science of dog training with the art of the process. This concept has been defined pretty well in one of its videos where the trainer explains what he means by merging science and art. Knowing what makes a dog do what they do, and then tailoring that knowledge to the dog’s needs is the key factor in Training Positive’s methodology.

Suffice to say, it works quite well. The training videos may look old or lack some polish but the material and content are there. Everything from obedience training to basic manners like potty training is there on the channel, in a form that is easily understandable. So, when you go to Training Positive, don’t be discouraged by the lack of shine on these videos. Open them up and learn. You’ll appreciate the effort.

7. Emily Larlham – Kikopup

Every person who has an interest in dog training and follows the professionals have undoubtedly heard about Emily Larlham. She is a world-renowned dog trainer and speaker at dog training conferences. So, what makes her such a good trainer? Well, everything has to do with the way she approaches dog training. And this is exactly what we need to understand. We need to see the things that make her a trainer worth listening to.

The first of these is absolutely no reliance on intimidation. People want to get results quicker. And In doing so, they employ acts of physical intimidation like screaming or cursing at their dog. Emily Larlham is an advocate against this very practice. She encourages techniques like positive reinforcement training whereby a dog is rewarded for his efforts not punished for not trying.

All of these qualities make Kikopup a channel worth following. Not only does Emily do a wonderful job of explaining complex things like behavior modification on the channel, but she also makes them simple to understand. In short, if you are a beginner and want to train your dog, Kikopup is a really good place to start from.

Just Jesse is not a dog training channel per se. The channel revolves around the day to day life of Jesse, a Jack Russel Terrier. Following Jesse on his adventures lends us an opportunity to observe how a well-trained and obedient dog behaves. It is as much fun as it is an inspiration to look at.

Moreover, there is nothing amazing about what Jesse does. Everything has to do with the time and effort put into his training. So, whenever you feel tired and can’t take any more of your dog’s bad behavior, see Jesse and take inspiration. This is what you get when you don’t give up and put enough effort into training your dog. If you’re into that sort of thing, then go and show Jesse some love.

9. BrightDog Academy

BrightDog Academy is one of the most comprehensive dog training channels on Youtube. Alex Antoniazzi is an amazing trainer and that shows in his videos.

I find Peter Caine’s skits highly entertaining. Unfortunately I have a much less favourible outlook regarding his people skills. He seems to have a very short fuse, is overly judgemental, and has issues dealing with rejection. People seem to walk on egg-shells whenever dealing with his You Tube content, which in turns creates an uncomfortable and hostile environment. Sorry Peter but this is how it looks from this end.
