Dr. Insha Afzal is a Poultry Scientist from Jammu & Kashmir with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Veterinary Science and a Ph.D. in Poultry Science. Dr. Afzal has actively participated in several workshops, conferences, and seminars where she presented papers on her research work. More about Insha Afzal
Dr. Insha Afzal is a Poultry Scientist and academician from the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. She was born and raised in the region and completed her secondary and higher secondary education from the JK Board of School Education with distinction and first division, respectively. She then pursued a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc) from the Faculty of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K, in 2014.
Dr. Afzal continued her education and obtained a Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc) degree in Poultry Science from the same institution in 2016, where she also cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET). She later completed her Ph.D. in Poultry Science from the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K, in 2021.
During her academic tenure, Dr. Afzal was engaged in various research projects and worked on a dissertation titled “Effect of Pre and Post Hatch Cold Conditioning on the Performance of Poultry” in the Division of Livestock Production & Management under the supervision of Prof.(Dr.) Azmat Alam Khan. She also evaluated the efficacy of Bovine Colostrum as a feed additive in Broiler Chicken in another research project titled “Evaluation of Bovine Colostrum as feed additive in Broiler Chicken.”
Besides research and academics, Dr. Afzal also gained practical experience in Veterinary Medicine and Livestock production. She completed a six-month internship program in various veterinary departments of the Government of J&K in 2014. Subsequently, she worked as a vocational trainer at Govt. High School Raithan, Budgam, J&K from 2019 to 2021, and served as an SRF at Div of Vety. Biochemistry, FVSC & AH, SKUAST-K from 2021-2022.
Dr. Afzal has actively participated in several workshops, conferences, and seminars to enhance her skills and knowledge in Poultry Science. Some of her notable contributions include attending a training program on “Entrepreneurship Awareness” organized by MSME-Technology Development Centre, Foundry Nagar Agra, and a national conference on “Innovative Technological Interventions for Doubling Farmers Income(NaCITI-2018)” organized by SIDAVES where she presented two papers on the economics of production of Broiler Chicken and conformational traits of Broiler Chicken fed Broiler Colostrum Supplemented Diets. She also presented a paper on “Immunomodulatory effect of Bovine Colostrum and Mortality Pattern in Broiler Chicken” in a national seminar on “Animal Science Congress: Horizons in Zoological Studies” organized by the Department of Zoology, University of Kashmir, and another paper on “Effect of Incorporation of Bovine Colostrum in Broiler Chicken Diets on Performance Parameters” at an international conference on “Worldwide Research Initiatives for Agriculture, Science & Technology” organized by National Agriculture Development Co-operative Ltd.
Dr. Afzal’s research contributions and dedication to the field of Poultry Science have earned her several accolades, including a NET qualification during her M.V.Sc program.
